Professional Learning and Ethical Practice revolves around the educator’s improvement in the professional skills of teaching. The teacher must regularly assess and evaluate their work to make sure their teaching methods are effective and meet the needs of the student’s individual developmental learning needs and diversities. The teacher assesses their practice by checking the student’s understanding of content knowledge learning whether they are retaining the knowledge being taught. When the teacher uses the evidence gathered from student performances the teacher is then able to then make proper decisions on what type of adaptations should be made to support the student’s individual needs within the classroom.
Example #1 Creating a teacher survey for students, parents, and colleagues to fill out leaving all names anonymous.
Example #2 Collaborating with other teachers and the principal on ways to effectively improve teaching methods and lesson plans.
Example #3 Keeping a teacher log of notes learned from prior instruction and past mistakes that can be improved upon with an overall self-reflection of the effectiveness of teaching that was taught.
