Learner Development

Learner development emphasizes the importance of understanding how to promote student growth and the proper methods of teaching that encourage learning developmentally in the classroom. The teacher Incorporates Standard #1 by using a variety of alternative teaching methods that are tailored to fit the student’s individual needs. In order to meet the student’s needs, the teacher must have a strong understanding and ability to recognize each area of development and how to modify instruction according to the student’s area of developmental needs. When adjusting and creating modifications to lessons the teacher must design the lessons to become a challenging learning experience while making the lesson’s objectives obtainable for students to grasp based on their developmental needs as a whole.

Example #1 Structuring lesson planning around students with an IEP with proper accommodations for daily classes.

Example #2 Creating lesson plans that incorporate Bloom’s taxonomy on all levels.

Example #3 The teacher accommodates lessons to fill Gardner’s multiple Intelligences to meet the student’s various needs of learning.
