Leadership and Collaberation

Leadership and collaboration,  encourage’s the teacher to collaborate with colleagues and parents to empower student development by finding new and innovative ways to educate students based on their current needs. The teacher’s role in this standard revolves around becoming involved in the teaching community and stepping up by grasping a leadership role by guiding other educators to improve the student’s overall development. Communication with parents is as well highly valued as parents play a crucial role in the education of students outside of the classroom along with knowing what type of needs their child could be accommodated for.  Although when seeking out collaboration with adults surrounding the student’s lives it is also always best to collaborate with the students themselves as the students are the ones who know themselves best.

Example #1: The teacher helps organize and structure the after-school program with other colleagues to find creative ideas for further student development outside of regular school hours.

Example #2: The teacher participates and fully engages in staff meetings finding ways to further student engagement.

Example #3: Connecting with parents outside of parent-teacher conferences to check up on the students well being and finding ways to continuously improve student learning by communicating with parents.
