Instructional Strategies

Instructional Strategies, requires the teacher to use multiple strategies in their instructional lesson plans. Using a variety of instructional strategies will improve retainment and understanding of the subject area being taught. It is important for the teacher to create lessons that incorporate multiple strategies to make a strong connection with students encouraging them to use the building blocks of prior knowledge they currently have. While students use prior knowledge they will be able to grow and attain the goal of learning with the information they already have to learn more in-depth concepts that can be applied long term. When students are able to grasp in-depth concepts the teacher must be able to construct strategies and refine lessons that will connect with students in a meaningful way to evoke overall student engagement and motivate students to find interest within the content being taught.

Examples #1: Creating personal journals for students to create new and innovative ideas to refer back to when working through new skills.

Example #2: Creating a Kahoot game that refers back to the student’s information retention on skills and tools learned in class.

Examples #3: Creating a KWL chart to find out what type of information students retained and what should be reviewed further.
